The woman behind it
About Tonya
Hi, I'm Tonya Williams. Come sit down for a minute. I want you to know who is on the other side of these pages before you trust me with your time.
I'm a Christian, a wife, and a mom to four girls, and Tennessee is home. God Over Grind Academy is mine, and I built it for the woman who wants to start something online but has no idea where to begin and is a little embarrassed to admit it.
I'm not naturally techy, so I teach in plain, beginner-friendly steps. Nothing here assumes you already know the language, and nothing here is written to impress anyone. It's written so you can follow it.
How I got here
Before this, I built a six-figure network-marketing business. By most measures that looked like success, and I'm not going to pretend it wasn't. But I chose to leave it.
What I carried out with me was a conviction I couldn't shake: there had to be a way to build income that didn't quietly cost me my peace or my family's time.
That conviction is why I teach the way I do. I know beginner material has to slow down, define the terms, and not skip steps. When I explain something to you, I'm explaining it like I'd want it explained to me.
Why I created God Over Grind Academy
God over grind isn't a slogan I picked because it sounded good. It's what the name means to me: faith leads the work, not the other way around.
Grind culture will tell you that if you're not exhausted, you're not serious. I don't believe that, and I don't want you building something on that foundation. Faith-led work means the work has rest built into it: that you can grow something real without handing over your family, your rest, or your peace as the payment.
So I made a place where a beginner woman can learn in plain words, at a human pace, without being made to feel behind. That's all the Academy is: honest instruction, in order, in a room where your faith isn't something you have to leave at the door.
- Your worth is not your output
- Small consistent work beats heroic bursts
- Plain words, always. If I can't explain it simply, I'll keep working on it
- Faith leads the work, not the other way around
What I actually teach
Digital marketing, digital products, Canva, Etsy, Printify and print-on-demand, beginner-friendly AI, content creation, and the simple systems that hold a small online business together.
I teach the whole chain, not just the fun part: what to make, how to make it in Canva, where to list it, how to write so people actually buy, and how to let AI speed you up without flattening the voice that makes your work yours.
And I try never to skip the boring middle steps. The boring middle steps are usually where beginners get stranded.
Who I'm here for
You, if you're starting from zero and you want it explained without jargon. You, if you've been told a hundred times that this is simple and it still hasn't felt simple.
You don't need to be young, techy, confident, or already good at this. You need someone willing to start at the beginning with you. That's the part I care most about.
Common questions
- Is the Academy faith-based?
- Yes, openly. What I teach is practical business instruction, and the room it's taught in is grounded in faith. You'll never have to pretend that part of you isn't there.
- What do you teach?
- Digital marketing, digital products, Canva, Etsy, Printify and print-on-demand, beginner AI, content creation, and the simple systems that keep an online business running.
- I'm not techy at all. Will I be able to keep up?
- I'm not naturally techy either, so I build everything assuming you're starting from nothing. If a step needs three sentences instead of one, I'll give you three.
- Where should I start reading?
- Start Here is the roadmap I'd hand you in person. After that, work down the order in the Learn library and don't rush it.
